Africa-Press – Botswana. Mmadinare- based youth-owned companies Strive for Excellency and OPERUSH Holdings have been awarded a tender to construct toilet blocks at the bus rank and refurbish Home Based Care centre respectively in Mmadinare.

Bobirwa District Council Architecture Mr Ditso Mpotsang said during the consultative meeting with the village leadership in Mmadinare on Friday that the construction of the toilet block was expected to commence on September 1, with completion scheduled for December 8.

The refurbishment of the home-based care centre should be completed by November 29.

She said the two projects had been funded under the Constituency Community Projects (CCP) fund to the tune of over P733 000.

Mr Mpotsang encouraged contractors to complete the works in accordance with the contract, adding that they should deliver the two projects on time and budget.

He said the council and the village leadership would monitor the projects closely to ensure their completion.

For his part, the area MP Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi expressed gratitude towards Ms Sethebe Motsholapheko and Ms Modimoopelo Osupile of the two companies who are the female youth of Mmadinare.

He encouraged them to continue doing their best in the male dominated industry.

Mr Molebatsi also applauded Bobirwa District Council for empowering the youth, adding that awarding tenders to the youth would help reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country.

Mr Molebatsi also thanked the council for other CCP development projects in his constituency, saying most of the projects were done and finished on time.

Kgosi Maureen Mphoeng of Mmadinare encouraged Bobirwa District Council personnel to work hand in hand with the community, especially the village leadership for them to appreciate the developments in their village.

She said consultation with the leadership, especially the Village Development Committee, was important in enhancing accountability.
