Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Institute of Legal and Social Sciences (ISCJS) holds, this Friday afternoon, 9, a conference entitled “Cape Verde Constitution, the Judicial System and the International Rights Protection System”, at the Tarrafal Concentration Camp from Santiago.
The event, in partnership with the local authority, is scheduled for 3 pm at the Tarrafal Concentration Camp, according to a press release.
Among the speeches, the President of the Constitutional Court, João Pinto Semedo, will speak on “The Constitutional Court and the International System for the Protection of Rights” and the former judge of the CEDAO Court, Januária Tavares Costa will deliver “The Constitution of Cape Verde and the African Courts for the Protection of Rights”.
Themes under the table
The conference also has the theme “The Constitution of Cape Verde and the mechanisms for the Protection of Human Rights of the United Nations” by José Pina Delgado, professor and judge-counselor of the Constitutional Court.

Constitution of 1992
It should be recalled that the 1992 Constitution emerged following the democratization process in Cape Verde and aimed to provide the country with a set of norms where the principles of pluralist democracy and the Democratic Rule of Law were enshrined.
Since its approval on 25 September 1992, the Basic Law has been revised twice.
The first ordinary review took place in 1999 and the second took place in 2010.
