Africa-Press – Cape verde. The island of Santiago will host from 19 to 21 December the African School Football Championship, promoted by the African Football Confederation (CAF), in partnership with the Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF). Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania and Gambia have already confirmed their participation in this Championship.
Participating are school teams, male and female, with 8 players on the field and aged between 12 and 15 years. The games last 40 minutes (two halves of 20 minutes) with dimensions of 70mX42m and goals of 2mX5m.
In addition to the games, several workshops and training sessions are being held at the same time, with the aim of awakening young athletes to other vocational areas.
Attendance
Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania and Gambia have already confirmed their participation in this African School Football Championship, whose official opening ceremony will take place in Santa Cruz, on Monday, 19th, at 11 am.
The Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz presided over the ceremony, which was also attended by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, Carlos Silva, the President of UFOA A, West African Football Union, Lamin Bajo, the Director of the Member Associations of CAF, Sarah Mukuna, of the President of the FCF, Mário Semedo, among other distinguished entities.
It will also be attended by all the teams and delegations participating in the championship.
The CAF African School Football Program is a development project focusing on school football, organized through the African School Football Championship, which supports programs that increase the social impact of football and also empower participating countries to manage football through training programs.
