Africa-Press – Cape verde. The interim head of the United Nations Joint Office, Steven Ursino, was today honored by the Cape Verdean Government for his “contribution and dedication” to improving public policies for Cape Verdean youth and the development of the sector.
In a ceremony that also marked the formalization of the financing of the social entrepreneurship project, the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister for Youth and Sports, Carlos Monteiro, highlighted the “added value” of the laureate in “truly connecting with the Country”.
“Without a doubt, Steven Ursino leaves this mark and we didn’t want to let this simple homage go unnoticed. The fact that the face-to-face mission is ending does not mean that Cape Verde, especially in the youth sector, will stop asking you for collaboration… so that you can contribute to the development of public policies ”, he said.
At the end of his two-year term in Cape Verde, the head of the Joint Office – UNDP, UNICEF AND UNFPA – congratulated the Cape Verdean executive on his “strong commitment to social well-being” and the country’s “economic development”, placing people, young people and adolescents at the center of development, “with a special focus”.
