Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean handball team makes its debut on January 12 in the 28th Handball World Cup against Uruguay. At the moment, the selection is being prepared in Europe.
Cape Verde shares group C of the competition, along with Brazil, Sweden and Uruguay.
The national team is currently in Portugal for the third phase of preparation, where friendly matches are taking place with the local team, and from the 5th to the 8th of January it will participate in an international tournament in Switzerland, also involving Japan and Austria.
Pass group stage
As a goal, the selection has already established to pass the group stage of the competition.
From Cape Verde, those called up are Élcio Fernandes, Luís Almeida, Edmilson Gonçalves, Paulo Moreno, Elledy Semedo, Guatther Furtado, Leandro Semedo, Edmilson Garcia, Edmilson Oliveira, Nelson Pina, Felisberto Landim, Délcio Pina, Gilson Correia, Paulo Andrade , Bruno Landim, Flávio Fortes and Admilson Furtado.
32 teams participate in the handball world championship, with Denmark being the current champion.
The competition takes place in Poland and Sweden from the 12th to the 29th of January.
