Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Agostinho Neto University Hospital (HUAN) diagnosed ten cases of childhood cancer in 2021, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health, which warns of the impact of early diagnosis on the cure of illness.

The Ministry of Health’s alert comes in connection with the International Childhood Cancer Day, which is being celebrated today. This, with the aim of educating civil society on the subject, highlighting the challenges that children and young people, as well as their families, face, in addition to focusing on the importance of having easy and universal access to health care throughout the world.

In a note sent to Inforpress, this government entity said that in Cape Verde the most common childhood cancers are leukemia, lymphomas, retinoblastomas and Wilms’ tumor.

This year, tribute is paid to the positive impact of families and caregivers on the lives of children and adolescents with cancer.
