The International Symposium on “Flora and Natural Resources of the Cape Verde Islands” will take place on the campus of the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV), in the city of Praia, tomorrow, Friday, the 21st. in recent years with regard to the conservation of the flora and natural resources of the Cape Verde Islands.
Segundo nota de imprensa, o evento envolverá todos os interessados ligados ao setor da conservação da flora e recursos naturais, assim como a generalidade da comunidade científica com interesse na valorização do património natural e contará com a participação de especialistas nacionais e estrangeiros.
O Simpósio, de carácter internacional, pretende apresentar os avanços realizados nos últimos anos sobre a conservação da flora e recursos naturais das ilhas de Cabo Verde, “privilegiando estudos comparativos entre regiões continentais de África e Cabo Verde, enquadrando-os no contexto mais amplo da região da Macaronésia”.
Simpósio organizado em uma sessão plenária duas sessões temáticas
Na sessão plenária será proferida pelos organizadores do evento e é intitulada “Conservação e Diversidade da Flora de Cabo Verde”.
The two thematic sessions with oral communications will be on the “Sustainable Use of Natural Resources on the Cape Verde Islands” and “Cooperation, Scientific Research & International Networks”.
Special emphasis on collaborative networks
According to the same source, during the symposium special attention and emphasis will be given to collaborative networks and training actions at postgraduate level, namely Masters and Doctorates, which have contributed to training students in Cape Verde and which promote the development of research. of excellence in various scientific areas, such as sustainable agriculture, flora and natural resources or climate change.
The international symposium on “Flora and Natural Resources of the Cape Verde Islands”, is organized by the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) and the National Institute of Agricultural Research and Development (INIDA), in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Agronomy ( ISA) and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL).
It is organized under the Project: “CVAgrobiodiversity – Climate changes and plant genetic resources: the overlooked potential of Cabo Verde’s endemic flora”, financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) .
