Africa-Press – Cape verde. The airline that operates connections between the islands has increased the number of Praia/São Filipe/Praia connections to two, starting today and until May 4th. The increment aims to respond to demand during the festive period. However, the agencies are waiting for the introduction of more flights to be able to respond to the demand.
Before, the company made a daily connection between Praia and São Filipe, but, as of today, and taking into account the demands for the period of the Flag and Municipality Day of São Filipe, it increased the number of connections to two. which, according to information collected from some travel agencies, are sold out.
However, the agencies are waiting for the introduction of more flights to be able to respond to the demand. As they point out, they all have lists of people waiting to buy a ticket to the island of the volcano.
People already arrive by sea
At the end of the week, the island experienced a different movement, with the arrival of many people, in at least three trips on one of the passenger and cargo ships.
According to information collected by Inforpress, from the 20th, the ship Liberdadi will be available to ensure the maritime connection between the islands of Fogo and Santiago, thus transporting people interested in traveling to the island for the festivities.

The Flag and São Filipe Municipality Day festivities start earlier this year, on the 22nd of April, with an activity on the beach of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, which the organizers classify as “pre-heating”.
Dozens of artists and groups that will perform between April 27th and April 1st have already been announced, tickets sold in batches, but many people are waiting for the program to be announced with the date of the artists’ performance to purchase their tickets.
On April, the “Ascent to the Volcano” takes place, registration is still open.
The 2023 edition of Festas de Nhô São Filipe honors emigrants from that island.
