Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cup of the World Basketball Championship is in Cape Verde for exhibition in Mindelo and Praia, in order to encourage new generations of the sport and motivate the Cape Verdean team in the world cup.
Yesterday, the trophy was on display in Ribeira Bote square, Mindelo, accompanied by a photo session and a 3X3 tournament with two training schools in São Vicente.
In Cidade da Praia, the trophy will remain for two days, Thursday and Friday, and will be displayed at Farol Dona Maria Pia, Forte de São Filipe, Cidade Velha and Largo Amílcar Cabral, during a 3×3 tournament.

Emanuel Trovoada believes that the opportunity given by FIBA for the trophy to visit two islands is also important, Santiago, as of Thursday, and São Vicente, an island with “many international talents”.

Cape Verde is one of 30 nations chosen for the FIBA World Cup Trophy Tour.

Cape Verde at the World Cup
The Cape Verdean team qualified for the first time on February 26 of this year for the World Cup, an event that will feature the participation of 32 teams, between August 25 and September 10 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines .
Cape Verde is one of the five African countries to represent the continent at the 2023 World Cup, along with South Sudan, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Angola.
