Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves, will participate from June 14 to 16, in Barbados, in the Ministerial Conference of the World Health Organization (WHO) SIDS on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health.
The event brings together SIDS country ministers and organisations as a follow-up to the SIDS High Level Technical Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health held in January this year, whose key recommendations were provided for the subsequent development of an outcome document and which aims to reaffirm policy commitments for NCDs and Mental Health and endorse the outcome of the conference.
The objective, informs a statement sent to Inforpress, is that the Member States of the SIDS and associates present specific actions for the implementation of economic interventions, aiming to accelerate the process, and environmental action in the face of climate change and unique vulnerabilities to reach target 3.4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and target 3.8 on Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“This represents a critical step towards building and pursuing a collective vision and course of action to accelerate progress towards the goal”, says the note.
