This Tuesday, 13th afternoon, the city of Praia hosts the launch of the book “A Linda Borboleta” , a “totally inclusive” work that has the co-authorship and illustration of a young woman with cerebral palsy. The launch is scheduled for 17:00, in the Banquet Hall of the National Assembly.
“A Linda Borboleta” by Teresa Mascarenhas and Rosiane Rocha has the special participation of writer Germano Almeida.
The work tells a beautiful story of overcoming and inclusion. Because it is the first book in Cape Verde that is 100% accessible and inclusive, whose illustrator and co-author is a young man with cerebral palsy”, wrote Teresa Mascarenha, president of Associação Acarinhar (responsible for the work) on her Facebook page.
According to the same, the work is available in Portuguese and in Creole, both in Braille, with increased text, for people who are blind or with low vision, pictograms, for children with intellectual disabilities or limitations of another nature.
“It also includes a QR code, which sends us to the video book, in sign language, for deaf children, with audio description of the images, for blind people”, he added.
Six years to be produced
Teresa Mascarenhas advanced that it took six (6) years in preparation until the idea came to fruition. Therefore, thanks to the people and institutions involved in this project.
“A Linda Borboleta” will be launched this afternoon, at the National Assembly, in Praia, with a presentation by Fátima Fernandes and Natacha Magalhães.
Its launch takes place within the scope of commemorative activities for the 16th anniversary of Acarinhar, which take place under the motto “16 years building bridges for greater inclusion”.
