Delivery of the first semi-industrial fishing vessels built from scratch in Cape Verde

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The handover of the two semi-industrial fishing vessels of 9 and 11 meters, built from scratch in Cape Verde, will take place in Porto da Praia, this Friday, 30th, at 11:45 am. These are the first vessels built within the framework of the economic recovery plan launched by the Government of Cape Verde.

The vessels built from scratch in Cape Verde, by the company Vá Comércio, belong to the companies and owners of “Pescados Tabari SU Lda” from the municipality of São Domingos and Peixaria Cidade Velha Lda from the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago.

According to a press release from the Government, the construction and equipping of the “Pescados Tabari” vessel was budgeted at 12 750 600.00 Cape Verdean escudos, of which 20% (2 550 120.00 ECV) was financed by the Autonomous Fisheries Fund (FAP).

The 9-meter vessel belonging to Peixaria Cidade Velha was budgeted at 10 750 600.00 ECV. FAP contributed with the amount of 2,150,120.00 ECV.

The economic recovery plan was launched in 2021 by the Government of Cape Verde with a view to promoting the relaunch and development of the sector in the post-pandemic period. So far, 9 projects have already been approved by the National Bank.

The Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, will participate in the handover.
