Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, today highlighted the country’s adaptation to climate change as “one of the biggest challenges” for Cabo Verde in the environmental sector.

“The Cabo Verde’s great challenge is the country’s adaptation to climate change, it is the fight against plastic pollution, the effective implementation of the circular economy in the water sector, strengthening the resilience of communities, but also of sectors in relation to the that it is the impact of climate change”, reinforced the minister, in a press conference, when asked about Cabo Verde’s biggest challenges in environmental terms.

Also according to the holder of the Agriculture and Environment portfolios, Cabo Verde’s environmental challenges also have to do with the implementation of management plans for protected areas, increasing funding for climate and environmental action and increasing environmental literacy.

“If I continue to list the challenges, I would talk about the issue of solid waste, construction and demolition waste, which needs to be considered, as well as the issue of aggregates for civil construction,” he said.
