Africa-Press – Cape verde. More than 900 Cape Verdeans will travel to Lisbon to participate in the Thirty-third World Youth Day.
Cited by RFI, the Catholic Church of Cape Verde admits the possibility of the non-return of some “pilgrims”, so it guarantees that it is sensitizing the participants not to take advantage of the trip for clandestine emigration.
“It is a very large delegation that requires organization and care. We know that Cape Verde has seen Portugal as a country of opportunities. There is this tendency for people to take advantage of opportunities outside the organization in order to make their lives”, said deacon José Pereira Vaz, quoted by the same source.
The deacon clarified that a visa with a specific code is issued for the World Youth Days, lasting 18 days, and that they are appealing to the conscience of the participants to do what is right.
José Pereira Vaz advanced even though there is great control and by staying there young people run the risk of being expatriated.
The World Youth Days take place from the 1st to the 6th of August in Lisbon, Portugal.
