Africa-Press – Cape verde. Athlete José Luís “Sampé”, 47 years old, beat the other eight candidates and took first place in the annual test of crossing the 9 nautical miles, in the channel between São Vicente and Santo Antão, by rowing – Remex Canal Challenge.
During the award event, which took place in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, stated that the race has the conditions to be of international “standard” and “one of the toughest endurance races in the world, involving other rowing modalities”.
