Africa-Press – Cape verde. Throughout 2023, the Independent Health Regulatory Authority (ERIS) carried out inspections at 68 establishments in the pharmaceutical sector and seized 14,865 units of medicines for human use in 08 of the inspected establishments.
This information was provided in a statement by ERIS, which explained that the inspection actions aimed to verify compliance with legal requirements applicable to the pharmaceutical sector, specifically, medicines for human use.
“The inspections carried out at general commercial establishments resulted in the seizure of 14,865 units of medicines for human use in 08 of the establishments inspected as part of activities to combat the illicit market, removing medicines considered unsafe from the market”, reads the statement .
The entity also stated that establishments linked to pharmaceutical products are subject to regulation within the scope of its powers, in accordance with its statutes approved by Decree-Law no. 3/2019, of 10 January.
Therefore, he added, ERIS has the competence to supervise activities linked to the life cycle of pharmaceutical products, including medicines for human and veterinary use, chemical-pharmaceutical products, whether active ingredients or excipients, medical devices and products cosmetics, aiming at their quality, safety and effectiveness.
