Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Education published, this Thursday, in the Official Bulletin, the diploma that establishes the principles and standards that guarantee the inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN), through special measures.
According to a note released by the ministry, the document was published in Official Bulletin no 16, I Series, of February 29, 2024, and is an important instrument for achieving the main objectives of the Government Program of the IX Legislature for Education .
According to the same source, these are principles and standards that guarantee inclusion, through special measures, to be implemented in the educational process, as well as the specific resources to be mobilized to respond to the educational needs of each child and young person throughout their school career.
“The aim is to consolidate the gains achieved, as well as strengthen special education with an emphasis on the school inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs, reinforcing the principle of educational inclusion at all levels, valuing diversity and promoting equity and non-discrimination in access to the curriculum, the document reads.
Also in the statement, the Government highlights that the conditions are being created to adopt specific human, didactic and pedagogical resources in educational institutions to support learning and inclusion and multidisciplinary teams to support inclusive education, through the implementation of special measures that enable access, participation and progress for children and young people with SEN.
He also highlighted the role of parents or guardians, “being granted a set of rights and duties, namely, participation, cooperation and information regarding all aspects of their student’s educational process”, says the same note .
