Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of São Salvador do Mundo said this Friday that the municipality is experiencing a good moment from an infrastructure point of view, taking into account the “major works” in progress.
Ângelo Vaz made this statement to the press, when talking about the works underway in the municipality, which aim to provide residents with better conditions and opportunities, but also offer a better welcome and service to those who visit Picos.
According to the mayor, urban and environmental requalification works are currently underway in Chão Rodrigues “Picos na Coração”, whose budget is around 45 thousand contos, a work that, as he highlighted, “enhances the pride of Salvadorans”.
In addition to two spaces for restaurants, public baths, a terrace, a children’s playground will be built on site and, in association with this work, a charging station for electric vehicles will be included, as a way for the municipality to make its contribution and an improvement to the environmental protection.
Despite the urban requalification work, the mayor also spoke about the home water connection project, highlighting that at the moment, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the municipality has around 38 percent (%) of connection to the home water network, believing that within a few months it will reach the average for the island of Santiago and then continue working towards the national average.
At this moment, Ângelo Vaz said that the project is taking place in the towns of Leitão Grande and Picos Acima, where they intend to benefit 504 homes, which will allow the municipality to make a qualitative leap in this matter, remembering that the council team’s motto for this year is 2024 it was “each house a tap”.
Also, within the framework of the works, he spoke about the project financed by the Tourism and Environment Funds, the Rural Villages project, whose works have already started in the town of Mato Dentro, the area benefited in this context.
In this village, they are working on paving the road, electrification and building bathrooms for all families, thus allowing them to receive tourists in their homes, which will give these families the opportunity to earn some income.
Another work that deserves to be highlighted is the Miradouro de Babosa which has already started and according to the mayor, “it will give more quality to tourism on the island of Santiago and, mainly, in São Salvador do Mundo, which is a municipality of natural viewpoints and which now they are being qualified to actually offer a quality tourism product to tourists and residents”.
Regarding the Chão Rodrigues work, as it had been inaugurated in November 2019, and was destroyed by the rains of September 2020, the mayor stated that this time, they increased much more inspection capacity, execution capacity so that the work went well. made this time, having considered all factors, both natural and human, so as not to avoid situations like the previous one.
