Africa-Press – Cape verde. of the University Institute of Art, Technology and Culture (M_EIA) at the Technical University of the Atlantic (UTA) has already been published in the Official Gazette after the signing of the memorandum of understanding on July 30, in Mindelo.
According to the document published on Thursday, the 12th, the UTA undertakes, as a public higher education institution, to make “every possible effort” to create the conditions for the M_EIA to operate, similar to the other organic units of the university.
According to the same source, the public university also recognizes the identity and history of the institute and must from now on preserve them as heritage.
The M_EIA, in turn, must “without any compensation” transfer all of its knowledge heritage, administrative archives, goods and material equipment to the UTA.
“So that the academic and scientific mission of the organic unit can continue smoothly and without interruption of the programs in progress”, reads the document.
The Official Bulletin also reveals other obligations on the part of the institute, including maintaining dynamic and constantly evolving curricula and also rescuing and integrating the Baltazar Lopes Chair into the UTA to safeguard the intellectual, pedagogical and cultural legacy of its patron.
In addition, according to the document, physical spaces for the M_EIA should be designed on the future UTA university campus in São Vicente.
The M_EIA was created in 2004, following 25 years of work by the Atelier Mar cooperative, with teacher training in the artistic field, in a partnership between the Luxembourg cooperation and the Government of Cape Verde.
It currently operates in the facilities of the former Gil Eanes High School, known as the Old High School, which will still maintain its facilities, according to the rector, Leão Lopes.
