Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verde Cultural Centre (CCCV) in Lisbon is holding a series of events dedicated to Cape Verdean culture and communities during the month of October, covering topics such as health, literature, gastronomy, music and youth entrepreneurship.

As part of the celebrations of the National Day of Culture and Community, celebrated on 18 October, the CCCV events aim to promote cultural exchange and pay tribute to Cape Verdean figures and traditions.

According to the programme, the centre will host the launch of the book “Para além das ondas” (Beyond the Waves), by Evel Rocha, a work inspired by the life of Patone Lobo, a businessman from Sal, which reflects on the challenges and successes in the Cape Verdean business world.

In terms of youth entrepreneurship, on the same day, the Mizé Acessórios brand will be presented at a restricted event, which will include a fashion show of the new Siza Karapati line at the Holiday Inn Lisbon hotel.

The programme continues on 25 October, with the celebration of Cape Verdean literature, through the launch of the book “Harmonias da identidade musical de Cabo Verde”, by Júlio Rocha, followed by the presentation of the project “Brasus” Muzikais, focused on the musical traditions of the archipelago.

The event “Em tempos de ‘Azágua’ – A simbologia do milho na cultura Cabo-Verdiana”, on 26 October, will feature the presence of the writer Filinto Elísio and Milocas Andrade, in a session complemented by a tasting menu based on corn and will feature the participation of the artist Carla Correia.

According to the CCCV programme, the magazine “Nosagenda” will also be launched on the 26th, with a special edition that pays tribute to two figures of traditional Cape Verdean music, Bitori Nha Bibinha and Zeca Nha Reinalda, recognised for their cultural contributions.

To close the month, the musician GilsonGee Ramos will perform an intimate concert at within the scope of the project “Kriolo Sounds – Each Note, One Story”, accompanied on the piano by Humberto Ramos.

Meanwhile, the programme for the month dedicated to Culture and Communities began on Saturday the 12th, with an initiative dedicated to health, with the presentation of the project “Badia Guerreira”, in line with Pink October, a global campaign to prevent breast cancer.

The event aimed to raise awareness in the community about the importance of early diagnosis and to share the experiences of women who face the disease.

The National Day of Culture and Communities was established in October 2005, with the aim of celebrating both Cape Verdean culture and its communities.

The date pays tribute to the birthday of one of the greatest writers in the history of Cape Verde, the poet Eugénio de Paula Tavares, who died at the age of 63 in Vila Nova Sintra, Brava Island, on June 1, 1930.
