Government Guarantees Sustainability of King Air 360 ER Aircraft with a Percentage of Air Safety Fee

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said today that the Council of Ministers approved that a percentage of the air safety fee be allocated to operations, maintenance and training, to guarantee the sustainability of the King Air 360 ER aircraft.

“To ensure that operations work, to guarantee payment of salaries to all personnel working in the shelter, maintenance and training and, with that, we have the aircraft in working condition”, said the Prime Minister, during the official reception ceremony of the King Air 360 ER Aircraft.

A measure that Ulisses Correia e Silva guaranteed will be taken for air, maritime and military resources, with the aim of guaranteeing functionality through the country’s “own efforts”.

Still referring to the aircraft, the head of the Government assured that it will be important in the sense of monitoring and supervising the exclusive economic zone and strengthening Cape Verde’s capacity in terms of prevention and cooperative combat of phenomena related to transnational crimes.

“Drug trafficking, human trafficking, maritime piracy, illegal and undeclared fishing. Therefore, Cape Verde’s procedure has been clear, regarding the definition and the option, in which maritime security is the most important factor for Cape Verde’s defence and security. That is why it is included in the strategic concept of national defence and security”, stated the Prime Minister.

Ulisses Correia e Silva also indicated that with this aircraft, the capacity in terms of search and rescue, support for rescue operations, shipwreck and accident situations is reinforced.

The King Air 360 Extended Range (ER) aircraft is equipped with an IRS-Intelligence, Patrol and Surveillance System, a search and rescue system, with medical devices, and is valued at US$ 15 million.

According to the Government, the aircraft already has the registration that was completed by the Civil Aviation Agency (AAC) and the airworthiness certificate, with registration D4 CCL.
