Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean singer Cremilda Medina was distinguished with two recognition mentions in the United States of America, as announced on her social media. Cape Verdean singer and composer Tito Paris also received two recognition mentions in the United States of America.
During her most recent visit to the United States, Cremilda Medina received two honors: one from the city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and another from the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
“It is a great honor to be recognized for my work, commitment, professionalism and dedication to our traditional and classical music,” highlighted the artist.
For Cremilda, these recognitions are an encouragement and confirmation that she is on the right path: “They allow us to see that we are on the right track, without distractions, focused on a goal… that our traditions are not forgotten.”
The singer expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, including Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien, Heritage Director Charles “Chachi” Carvalho and the entire board of the Cape Verdean Museum in Pawtucket, “who welcomed us so lovingly.”
Cremilda also thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Ronald Mariano, State Representative Antonio F.D. Cabral and legislative advisor Irondina “Dina” Abreu.
