Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Judicial Police (PJ) will carry out an operation to incinerate four thousand narcotic products seized throughout the country, starting at 11 am, at the São Domingos Sanitary Landfill, in the Vale do Cachopo area.
According to a statement from the institution, substances corresponding to 4 thousand products from the country’s 16 districts will be destroyed, including mostly cannabis (padjinha), cocaine, hashish and a residual quantity of amphetamines (synthetic drugs).
The drugs now destroyed were deposited in the Judicial Police’s Strongroom, having previously been subjected to tests at the institution’s Scientific Laboratory. The operation already has the necessary authorization from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which is responsible for the respective cases.
According to the same source, the incineration will be presided over by a prosecutor from the Praia District and includes drugs seized by both the PJ and the National Police in operations carried out between 2010 and 2023.
The operation involves around 70 participants, including members of the Judicial Police, the National Police (from the Praia and São Domingos regions), the Armed Forces and the fire departments of the two municipalities.
The PJ states that the objective is to safely and definitively eliminate the drugs deposited in this police institution.
