Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of State, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Affairs, Janine Lélis, acknowledged today, during a speech in Parliament, the existence of crisis situations in the transport sector, but assured that the government is committed to resolving them.
Janine Lélis spoke during the general questions period, following questions asked by deputies.
“Governing doesn’t mean eliminating all the country’s problems, but prioritizing them, taking action, and resolving them. We must recognize that there are crisis situations, just as we must acknowledge how much has already been done to improve them. The question at hand—and when representatives talk about telling the truth—can’t just be part of the truth; it has to be the whole truth,” the minister declared.
The governor admitted that there have been problems and that several aspects need to be improved. Meanwhile, he assured that the Government is committed to finding concrete solutions to the existing difficulties.
It is worth noting that in recent weeks inter-island maritime transport has been conditioned due to inspections and technical updates of the vessel Kriola, responsible for connecting the leeward line.
During this period, the ship Dona Tututa operated the Redonda and Sotavento lines with an adapted operational model.
However, CV Interilhas announced that Kriola will resume its maritime connection with the island of Maio today and, starting on Thursday the 10th, will return to its usual operational model, with three weekly connections between Santiago and the islands of Maio, Fogo and Brava.
In relation to air transport, there are also records of constraints due to the replacement of an aircraft with capacity for 78 passengers by another with only 50 seats, which caused these constraints.
According to the CEO of TACV, the scheduled plane had an operational problem and, as a precaution, the pilots decided not to transport passengers.
