Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Mathematics program at the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) is seeing an increase in enrollment due to the scholarship program implemented by the government to promote the program and train future professionals in the field.
The information was released this Monday in Praia by Robert Sousa, coordinator of the “Vocations for Mathematics” program, on the sidelines of the launch of this event, which takes place from September 1st to 3rd at the Palmarejo Grande Campus.
Robert Sousa highlighted the importance of the incentive at a time when, according to him, the country is facing a shortage of mathematics teachers.
“There was an increase because the Cape Verdean government offered scholarships this year. Therefore, we have seen huge gaps in teaching, especially among mathematics teachers. So the government offered an incentive this year, awarding scholarships to those who chose to pursue the mathematics program,” he stated.
As it turned out, the measure contributed not only to promoting the program but also to training future professionals capable of meeting the needs of the Cape Verdean education system.
