Cabo Verde receives 1.5 tons of rice from Japan

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cabo Verde received on Thursday a total of 1.5 tons of rice from the Japanese government for fiscal year 2020 to deal the challenge of food security in the archipelago.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, the shipment of 1.5 tons of rice arrives this Thursday, in the Port of Praia, through the motor ship “A RACER”.

This support, according to the same source, is part of the cooperation relations between Cabo Verde and Japan and has helped the Cabo Verdean authorities in responding to the challenges related to food and nutrition security at national level and has contributed to the increase in the availability of cereals and price stability in the national market.

The act of signing the agreement by exchange of notes which confirmed the granting of such aid took place in Dakar, Senegal, on 19 August 2020 between the ambassadors of the respective countries.
