Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Secretary of State for Communities, Vanuza Barbosa, announced this Friday in Amiens the launch of the project to create the Cape Verdean Cultural Center in France.

The center, inspired by the model already implemented in Portugal, aims to strengthen bilateral relations with France and promote Cape Verdean identity, reinforcing the sense of belonging among second, third, and fourth generations in Europe.

In a statement, the government official explained that the project is part of the government’s cultural diplomacy strategy, led by Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The plan foresees the creation of “Houses of Cape Verde” in French cities with significant communities, notably Marseille, Nice, Lyon, and Amiens, linked to the Cultural Center in France. These structures will have culture as their central focus, contributing to the reorganization of the diaspora and the valorization of Cape Verdean identity.

“The Cape Verdean Cultural Center in France will be a space for promoting our culture and identity, as well as symbolizing the presence of Cape Verde in France and Europe,” said Vanuza Barbosa.

During her visit to Amiens, the Secretary of State met with the local Cape Verdean community, participating in moments of dialogue and sharing experiences.

The implementation of this center is considered a significant step in promoting Cape Verdean culture and strengthening the link between the Government and the diaspora.
