Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government of Cape Verde is coordinating a series of actions to mitigate the difficulties in supplying cargo to Brava Island, following constraints experienced in maritime transport by CV Interilhas.
According to a statement sent to Inforpress, the Ministry of Tourism and Transport has been in contact with the Brava Municipal Council, CV Interilhas, and the Polaris company, with the aim of finding concrete and coordinated solutions to minimize the impact of the current situation on the supply of goods to the island.
The difficulties stem from the fact that the CV Interilhas and Dona Tututa vessels are currently in dry dock for mandatory repairs and maintenance, hindering the regular transport of cargo to Brava.
The Government acknowledges its dissatisfaction with the current situation of cargo transport by CV Interilhas, particularly regarding the maritime connection to Brava, and assures that it is working on an immediate solution to improve the service.
In this regard, efforts are being made to put the ship Praia de Aguada into operation, which is in the technical-operational testing and certification phase, which may contribute to strengthening the transport of goods.
At the same time, the executive reaffirms its commitment to stabilizing the maritime link with Brava Island, namely through the acquisition of a new vessel specifically designed to serve the island, taking into account the particularities of its connectivity.
The government also assures that it will continue working to guarantee the regular supply of the islands, minimize the impacts on the population and economic agents, and ensure the continuity of essential maritime transport services in the archipelago.
