Africa-Press – Cape verde. Maria Alice de Pina Moreira, resident in Achada São Filipe, is a leading storyteller in the city of Praia, who, book in hand, takes children on a journey through an imaginary world, trying to awaken in them a taste for reading.

The 55-year-old librarian, graduated in Education and Childhood, at the Instituto Superior de Educação (ISE), currently the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV), and began her professional career 17 years ago, at the Documentation Center and Development, in Praia.

On this journey, the taste for reading and storytelling only grew, improving even more when he started working at the National Library, as responsible for the Children’s and Youth space, where he gained extensive experience in reading animation.

At BNCV Alice Moreira coordinates, since 2012, the Cultural Summer project and does technical work in librarianship, in addition to integrating the team for promoting School Libraries.

As a collaborator of this house of books, she developed and executed projects to promote books and reading, namely the Summer Library and Traveling with Reading, within the scope of the “Dynamization of School Libraries” program – (DBE).

theater and poetryThe theater actress, later on, discovered another passion, the recitation of poems. Thus, she trained in the Art of Communicating at Uni-CV, with professor Daniel Medina and joined the recitation group “Fora do Palco” that took poems to the most diverse cultural activities in the Capital.

With many years of experience in promoting and promoting books and reading internationally, Alice Moreira says she feels fulfilled at a professional level. Currently, her goal is to continue working on programs that promote reading practice aimed at children.
