The match, scheduled for 7 pm local time (4 pm in Cape Verde), is the second game of the main-round and comes after the “Blue Sharks” have won all four of their matches.
After leading Group D with victories over Congo, Morocco, and Benin, the team secured its place in the semifinals and consequently its qualification for the 2027 World Cup by defeating Guinea-Conakry (on Sunday, the 25th).
According to information provided by the Cape Verdean Handball Federation, before the decisive match, the national delegation took advantage of Monday’s day off for an official visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a gesture of “respect, remembrance, and reflection”.

For this afternoon’s game, according to the regulations of the Cape Verdean Handball Confederation, a draw means Cape Verde’s passage, but the “Blue Sharks,” as the Cape Verde national team is known, have already made it clear that they will play for victory to achieve their primary objective: reaching the final and winning the unprecedented title of African champions.
