Uni-CV starts to benefit vulnerable students with Social Action Fund

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) will launch, starting tomorrow, April 2nd, the Social Action Fund, which aims to support the most vulnerable students. The launch takes place within the scope of a concert, taking place at its Convention Center, with Princezito being one of the names of the poster.

According to the director of Social Welfare Services, Adilson Neto, this is a mechanism found by this public university to finance university social actions, linked to food, in the payment of tuition fees and transport subsidies.

“The University of Cape Verde has chosen social action services since its creation as a service to ensure the well-being of students and the entire community, at the moment, to date, we have focused on students, but we need to go further” , he revealed to Inforpress.

In addition to this, he added that the university has ensured student residency, and is committed to recruiting students through a program, a kind of collaboration grant.

However, he stated that, with the pandemic and the respective years of drought, it is necessary to respond to the demands that have increasingly increased, stating that it is in this sense that they created this fund, as an alternative mechanism.

“Because the university with its operating budget will not be able to respond to these demands, and with the opportunities we have today, precisely with the new campus and new partnerships, it is configured as alternative means for the social action service, to feed the background, so that we can respond to the demands that come to us on a daily basis”, he clarified.

20 scholarship holders

He added that approximately more than 20 scholarship holders currently benefit, in collaboration with their partners, emphasizing that they have also supported more than 4,560 students with food.

“For this year, we are mobilizing and engaging partners, with this concert, to create a budget plan, and then open applications, taking into account the various regulations to benefit students”, he underlined.

The presentation of the fund will be made during a concert, taking place on the Uni-CV Campus, for the academic community, society leaders, and the general public, with the intention that this is a moment to mobilize new partnerships.

The event will feature the participation of artists Princezito and Zuleica Carvalho, who was a student at this university, and two other talents from the house, who will perform on the 2nd at 19:00, at the Convention Center.

Entrance to the concert is valid with a contribution of 1,000 escudos for teachers and the public, and for students the ticket costs 500 escudos.
