Africa-Press – Cape verde. The former Porto Novo decontamination center, deactivated six months ago, will be transferred “within a few days” to the Technical University of the Atlantic (UTA), serving the university campus in Santo Antão.
This information was given by the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz, at the end of a visit to Santo Antão, where he chaired the expanded council of this ministry, held between January 27th and 29th in the city of Porto Novo.
Amadeu Cruz explained that the former decontamination center will be transferred to the UTA “to create greater sustainability for Higher Education in Santo Antão,” serving the Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, based on this island.
The Minister of Agriculture and Environment had recently assured parliament that the former fumigation center in Porto Novo would be “properly utilized” by the Government, which intended to give “another purpose” to the infrastructure, built in 2010.
The situation of this space, which was closed with the new fumigation center in Santo Antão, built in the port of Porto Novo, has worried the farmers of Porto Novo, who had requested the space from the Government for the installation of an agricultural cooperative.
