Africa-Press – Cape verde. The São Domingos Town Hall will undergo a “deep rehabilitation,” estimated to last between nine and twelve months, involving the temporary transfer of municipal services to other municipal spaces.
In an interview with Inforpress, the mayor of São Domingos, Isaías Varela, specified that it is a “structural work” that will require “careful work,” including the replacement of the roof, interventions in terms of reinforced concrete, and the correction of existing cracks in the building.
All this, he stressed, is to guarantee better operating conditions for the services and greater security of the space.
To ensure the continuity of municipal services, the city hall is preparing the Ceramics Center, an old space that will house the services currently located in the Town Hall.
According to the same source, the site should be ready on the 15th or 16th of this month, allowing for the progressive installation of the city hall structures.
“Part of the services will still be distributed among the Social Promotion Service and the Municipal Police Station located in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Luz,” he indicated. In addition to this intervention, the municipality has other works and actions underway, including the start of works at Praça Center, the requalification of the Nora Municipal Stadium, with work on the stands and changing rooms, and the requalification of Achada Moia Moia.
The city hall is preparing to resume work in the city of Veneza, which involves the construction of the access road, a long-standing demand of the municipality, scheduled for completion and inauguration in March, as part of the local festivities, according to Isaías Varela.
In the same context, the restoration of the Água de Gato fountain and the connection of water to the localities of Vale da Custa and Tinca are planned, works that, according to the mayor, are in an advanced stage.
Also included in the package of interventions are the grass field in Achada Baleia and children’s centers and gardens.
In the area of services, Isaías Varela announced that the municipality should receive, in partnership with twin chambers, a truck to reinforce sanitation and a minibus for school transport.
