Africa-Press – Cape verde. The project, which aims to transform the space into a modern “center square,” is the result of a partnership between the São Domingos City Hall, Khym Negoce, and the executing company.
According to the councilman, the works are in the initial phase, which includes fencing off the space to ensure the safety of users and the construction area, taking into account the circulation of machinery.
Actions are also underway to dismantle existing equipment in the square, such as paving stones, electricity poles, benches, and other social infrastructure.
The intervention also includes the removal of a small food unit operating on the site. The city hall assures, however, that conditions will be created to guarantee the continuity of income for the micro-entrepreneur and workers associated with the activity.
Edmilson Almeida highlighted that the intervention arises from the need to restore safety and functionality to the space, currently marked by social problems that keep families and children away.
“The project is not limited to the square; it includes a comprehensive intervention in the surrounding area. Drainage works are planned for the river located at the back of the space, as well as the requalification of the Cova Barro area, integrating an approach that aims to guarantee environmental sustainability and better conditions for those who will frequent the place,” he pointed out.
According to the councilman, the initiative should boost the economic and social dynamics of the municipality, strengthen tourist appeal, and improve the urban environment.
The São Domingos City Hall appealed for the understanding of residents for the disruptions caused during the next ten months, reiterating that the final result will bring significant gains to the urban environment and the quality of life in São Domingos.
Although the concept is that of a “center square,” the official name of the infrastructure is still under discussion by municipal authorities.
