Africa-Press – Cape verde. On Friday, the Municipality of Mosteiros distributed 13 tablets to all elected members of the Municipal Council as part of an administrative modernization and digital transition project.
The initiative took place at the beginning of the Municipal Council’s fifth ordinary session and aims to reduce paper usage while simultaneously promoting more sustainable and efficient practices in the management of council proceedings.
According to the Municipality of Mosteiros, the introduction of these digital devices will facilitate greater agility in the sharing of—and access to—official documents, thereby contributing to the more effective performance of the municipal representatives’ duties, in addition to improving their working conditions.
The President of the Municipal Council, Lúcio Fernandes, welcomed the initiative and noted that the Council Bureau will now determine the best methods for managing and utilizing the devices.
The leaders of the municipal party caucuses—namely, Carlos Lopes of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) and Isildo Gomes of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV)—also expressed their satisfaction with the measure, deeming the digitization of documents to be a valuable asset in the execution of the elected officials’ duties.
This action is part of a series of measures that the Municipality of Mosteiros has been implementing to modernize its services and meet the challenges of digital governance.
