Africa-Press – Cape verde. The higher education institutions University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) and Jean Piaget University (Uni-Piaget) have signed an agreement for access to the CEU-Elcano International Chair onboard the Spanish Navy’s school “Juan Sebastián Elcano”, in the port of Praia.

The act was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Cabo Verde, Maria Dolores Rios Peset, who said that the signing of the agreement is part of the first circumnavigation trip 500th anniversary celebrations.

“This Chair will do different activities in different countries and Cabo Verde, which was the last scale of circumnavigation 500 years ago, has the opportunity to participate, to do joint research of what was the first circumnavigation in the world,” she said.

The ambassador also said that the first act to commemorate the 500 years of circumnavigation was the invitation of students from Uni-CV and Uni-Piaget universities, to visit the ship arrived on Wednesday, the 7th, and today there will be a lecture in the uni-CV library on circumnavigation, and on Friday, the 8th, the Jean Piaget University will host a lecture.
