Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 2022 edition of the Cabo Verde Basketball League starts today at 7 pm, at the Vavá Duarte Sports Pavilion, in Praia.
This year the competition has the participation of six teams, each with three North American players and seven Cape Verdeans.
The second match of the night, scheduled for 20:30, puts the Tchada Panthers and Plateau Warriors (champion) finalists of the 2021 edition face to face.

In a promotional video released by the organization on the Internet, the president of CVBL, António de Pina, informed that another novelty of this edition is the “importation” of African players for each team.
“Our aim and vision is to become Africa’s premier basketball league in the coming months and that in the future it will be the African Premier Summer League, a professional summer league,” he explained.
Born in Delaware, USA, António de Pina represented Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and as a professional played for the emblems of Eléctrico FC from Portugal and BC Martorell from Spain, having also a stint on the Netflix show, The Circle.
It is recalled that in its first edition, the Praia Basketball League took place from 03 to 23 July, in the Vavá Duarte pavilion, with the participation of teams from CB Cidadela, Ponta d’Água Gorilas, Achada Grande Volcanico, Palmarejo Sharks, Achada Panthers and Plateau Warriors, which are part of the “Overseas Basketball Connection” project.
