Africa-Press – Cape verde. Júlio Fonseca Lopes, head of the Temple of Restoration religious congregation, drowned today in the Fajã Sea, near Cova Figueira, in Santa Catarina do Fogo. This is the second occurrence with a fatality recorded on Fajã beach in just over a month.
According to the regional commander of the National Police (PN), subintendent Herminio da Veiga, to Inforpress the police authorities were notified around 10:10 am today that a 35-year-old male had lost his life in the Fajã Sea. , municipality of Santa Catarina, by drowning.
The same source said that the witnesses at the scene, reported that the victim fell into the water to swim to a “low” and that he felt tired, unable to resist the current and ended up drowning.
The body would be raised by the competent authorities around 12:40 pm, which after the procedures, released the deceased’s body to the family.
The lack of mobile network coverage at the accident site was the reason for the delay in reporting the occurrence, according to the regional commander of the PN.

The victim, whose name was Júlio Fonseca Lopes, was born in São Tomé and Príncipe, was born on August 6, 1987 and lived with his family in São Filipe, where he was in charge of a religious congregation.
According to the PN, the victim had been in the town since Monday, along with four other people, fishing.

On the 23rd of June, a 34-year-old individual who resided in Maria da Cruz, municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo, lost his life on this beach also while fishing.
