Africa-Press – Cape verde. The economic recovery of Cabo Verde Inter Ilhas will be accompanied by a review of the tariff model and system and a review of the concession contract, announced this Friday in parliament, the prime minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva.
The revision of the concession contract, according to the head of the Government, aims, on the one hand, “to improve the provision of the public service and limit the compensation to what is strictly necessary”.
With this revision “it is intended to adapt to the technical specifications of the ships of the fleet to be allocated to the concession, to the navigability conditions and national port infrastructures”.
“The pandemic affected the economic performance of Cabo Verde Inter Ilhas. The recovery has been troubled due to damage to the boats, affecting the regularity of transport, which worsens in periods of high passenger transport season”, acknowledged the head of the Government.
“The construction of maritime stations in the ports of Praia, Sal, Boa Vista, Tarrafal, São Nicolau and Maio, will have a very positive impact on the maritime transport of passengers with greater safety, convenience and comfort”, he pointed out, for on the other hand, Correia e Silva.
Regarding Cape Verde’s geostrategic location, the Head of Government stressed that the country must reaffirm its interest in strengthening the Special Partnership with the European Union and in increasing economic transactions with the African continent, particularly with ECOWAS and the African Countries of Portuguese language.
