Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde’s national women’s chess team won yesterday its first victory at the 44th Women’s Chess Olympics , taking place in India.

The Cape Verde women’s chess team won yesterday by 4-0 its counterpart in Sierra Leone, during the 44th Women’s Chess Olympics, which will take place in India, until 10 August.

With yesterday’s victory, the Cape Verdean Chess Federation says that “another page in the history” of Cape Verdean sport has been written.

“Our first women’s chess team won its first victory, beating its Sierra Leone counterpart by the widest margin (4-0). Congratulations to our young girls who form a team with an average age of 15 years”, wrote the federation on its Facebook page.

Today, Cape Verdean young women face Hong Kong “and certainly more excited, as a result of yesterday’s extraordinary victory”.
