Africa-Press – Cape verde. An emigrant from Brava, in France, who goes by the name of Eliseu Teixeira, launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise around 150 thousand euros to buy an ambulance boat for his homeland. Appealing to a djunta mon of all, the objective is to give an urgent response to the need for efficient evacuation on the island, so that tragedies such as that of young Djonny, a 14-year-old who died on August 1st, can be avoided.
“We are sad, indignant and outraged by the inhumane way in which the sick from Ilha Brava have been evacuated. At a time when they need more attention, better follow-up and care, unfortunately they have been transported on fishing boats, without any safety and comfort”, begins by justifying the promoter of this fundraising campaign, for the purchase of a hydro-ambulance to the Brave.
The emigrant believes that if everyone cooperates, this situation can be “changed” if an “ambulance boat well equipped with emergency medical equipment” is offered to the Civil Protection of Brava.
The objective is for this maritime ambulance to be “always” on the island and in case of emergency to be “ready for any intervention”.
More security for everyone
“It is a big step for the island because it will bring more confidence and security to its residents and also to those who have plans to invest and live on the island”, he argues.
Therefore, he appeals to everyone not to be indifferent and to support the project, so that Brava can have a hydro-ambulance.
“It’s a small step for Cape Verde but a big step for the island of Brava”, he appeals.
“You who are the son of the Brava island. You who are Creole or a friend of Cape Verde. You who live in Cape Verde, Europe, America or elsewhere in the world. This is the first and/or largest collective fundraising project for Cape Verde”, he reiterates in the descriptive project of the ongoing crowdfunding.
