The relatives of Autolindo Correia Andrade, killed in 2015, by assault with a white weapon, by Arlindo Teixeira, a client of lawyer Amadeu Oliveira, issued, this Thursday, a note of repudiation against the announced manifestation of solidarity in favor of the lawyer, who he has been detained for over a year at the São Vicente Prison. His wish is that the courts “don’t let themselves be pressured” and that “justice is done”.
“ We, the relatives of Autolindo Correia Andrade, killed by stabbing, by Arlindo Teixeira, on July 31, 2015 in the town of Caibros, in Santo Antão, having learned that a group of citizens from Ribeira Grande is preparing to hold a demonstration, said to be of solidarity, with Amadeu Oliveira, we came to express our strongest repudiation for such an initiative”, reads the note, shared by the victim’s brother, Aldevino Andrade.
The family stresses that Amadeu Oliveira “is in prison and facing the courts for having, as he himself never tires of boasting, planned, financed and executed the escape of Arlindo Teixeira, preventing him from answering in Cape Verde for his crime” .

For this reason, he asks “the organizers” and “all those who have been expressing support for Amadeu Oliveira”, if the aforementioned demonstration of support would be being organized, if the person who was killed was a loved one.
“Amadeu Oliveira must be held accountable for having prevented Arlindo Teixeira from responding to justice in Cape Verde, and serving his sentence, for the crime of murder he committed”, he defended.
The family also regrets that those who support Amadeu “never had a word of solidarity and comfort for the victim’s family”,
Promotion in the media
On the other hand, in the same note, he denounces what he considers a “promotion” that Arlindo Teixeira and his lawyer, Amadeu Oliveira, have deserved in the country’s media and among public opinion.

“Despite our persistent pain, aggravated by the feeling that we will have been completely abandoned to our fate by public authorities and society, we want to continue to believe in the justice of this country and in how neither Amadeu Oliveira nor any other citizen will be above the law. law”, he said, on the other hand.
He hopes, therefore, “that justice will be done and that the Courts will not be pressured by anyone”.
