Africa-Press – Cape verde. The African Development Bank (ADB) approved budget aid to Cape Verde, worth 10 million euros, within the framework of the tool “African Facility for Food Production and Emergency”.
This AfDB response follows the request made by the Government of Cape Verde, within the framework of measures to mitigate the impacts of rising food and fuel prices, and aiming at greater resilience of the food system in the country.
The AfDB has given special support and attention to the food crisis in African countries, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, through the launch of the “African Emergency Food Production Facility”, in order to avoid an imminent crisis on the African continent. .
And Cape Verde is one of the countries that has benefited from the resources of this financing tool, in the form of sectoral budget support, which has just been approved.
According to a press release, this amount will be channeled to reinforce the project “Support to the School Canteens and Food Safety Programme”, which also has the support of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and which will allow support to the most vulnerable families.
