Africa-Press – Cape verde. A total of 95,708 employees in Cabo Verde, representing a rate of 53.8 percent (%), work in the informal sector, according to labor market statistics produced within the framework of the Multiobjective Survey Continuous (BMI 2022).
The document, which is published on the website of the National Institute of Statistics, and which was prepared based on the new resolution of the International Labor Organization (ILO) that implements a new methodology, points to an increase of 2.2 percentage points compared to data from 2020.
According to the same source, this informal employment mostly includes workers (47.5%) or self-employed (38.2%).
Data point to regional disparity, with the proportion of informal jobs being 73.3% in rural areas and 48.7% in urban areas.
