Aerodrome construction may be unfeasible

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Studies point to difficulties in the construction of the aerodrome in Brava. Although there are still no definitive results, the Government says that it is already working on solutions to circumvent an alleged infeasibility of the aerodrome.

During a visit he made to Brava these days, the prime minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said that studies for the construction of the island’s airfield have pointed to a certain infeasibility. If so, as it advanced to the press, the Government will seek solutions that guarantee connectivity and security in the connections to and from Brava Island.

“ASA will soon release the report. There are preliminary data that point out that the level of feasibility can be difficult because of the costs involved, but if it is not viable we have to put a strong focus on alternatives”, he said, exemplifying the need for “increasingly reliable maritime transport, frequent and in conditions of convenience”.

The Cape Verdean chief executive talks about the construction of a new port in the Fajã area, in the sense of allowing people to have an alternative. As for the mayor of the island, Ulisses Correia e Silva gave guarantees of a “thriving recovery” of the economy in a post-covid scenario. Francisco Tavares, in turn, asked for more resources to continue implementing structuring alternatives for Brava.
