Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Association for the Defense of the Heritage of Mértola, Portugal, today highlighted, through its January newsletter, the projects it has underway in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, in the fields of agriculture.
One of the projects highlighted by the Portuguese non-governmental organization is the agro-forestry system, which is being implemented in the North and East Planaltos and also in Casa de Meio, under which three agricultural fields of experimentation have already been built.
This project, lasting 20 months, was started in March last year, being promoted in partnership with the community associations Luz Verde do Norte, Amupal and young farmers from Casa de Meio.
City Hall Porto Novo, delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Montado Cooperative of Freixo do Meio, Portugal, are other partners in this project, which aims to develop techniques to help farmers deal with climate change.
