Agripesca Seeks Increased Support for Monte Trigo Fishermen

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Association for the Development of Monte Trigo (Agripesca), in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, wants the Government to provide more support to the fishermen of this community in improving the conditions for their activity, according to Inforpress.

This is according to the president of Agripesca, Maria Miranda, who stated that the fishermen of Monte Trigo need government support to equip their boats with outboard motors, as has been happening in other fishing areas.

Maria Miranda added that Monte Trigo, being an isolated area, is often forgotten by the authorities who, in her view, should pay more attention to the local population, which lives essentially from fishing.

During the recent visit of the Minister of the Sea to Porto Novo, this association received seven thermal bags.

Jorge Santos reaffirmed the Government’s intention to build a multi-purpose pier in Monte Trigo to support fishing and tourism in that community.
