All Cape Verdeans participating in WYD are already in Portugal

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The nearly one thousand pilgrims from Cape Verde registered to participate in the World Youth Day (WYD) are already in Portugal for the event, which runs from the 1st to the 6th of August. The last group arrived on Sunday night.

The last group of nearly a hundred pilgrims from the archipelago arrived on the night of this Sunday, the 30th, and joins, in Leiria and Porto de Mós, the other Cape Verdeans who, since the 25th of July, have been traveling to Portugal to the pre-journey, called “Days in the Dioceses”.

From Cape Verde, young people, priests, sisters, students, the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, the Diocese of Mindelo, the Diocese of Santiago and the Salesian Congregation participate.

After Leiria, the Cape Verdean delegation returns today to its welcoming space, in the Paróquia de Entroncamento, in Santarém, from where, during the days of WYD, they travel every day to Lisbon to participate in the activities scheduled with the Pope Francis, as advanced by the deacon and diocesan youth assistant of the Diocese of Santiago, José Manuel Vaz, in statements to Inforpress.

The delegation, according to the same source, also has activities scheduled for post-journey.

“On the 8th of August we will have a conference, on the 9th of August it will be the turn of a forum with two panels and on the 10th of August we will have a moment of fraternization”, indicated the deacon José Manuel Vaz.

Pilgrims start returning to Cape Verde from the 8th of August and it is expected that everyone will be in the country by the 16th of August.
