Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, will be on a state visit to Cape Verde, starting this Sunday, 13th. On the agenda is the signing of agreements between the two countries and activities in Praia and Mindelo.

According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic of Cape Verde, the visit, which lasts until the 16th, is yet another witness to the historic relations of fraternity and friendship between the Angolan and Cape Verdean peoples.

João Lourenço will be accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport and officials of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola.

In Praia, there was a meeting between the two Heads of State, at the Palace of the President of the Republic and the intervention of the President of Angola in a special session of the Parliament, at the invitation of the President of the National Assembly, Austelino Correia.

João Lourenço is also expected to meet the Prime Minister, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, at the Government Palace, for the signing of “important agreements” between the parties.

Still in the capital, the head of state will receive “the keys to the city”, from the mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho, in addition to participating in a flower laying at the Amílcar Cabral Memorial and a visit to the Amílcar Cabral Foundation. and Inpharma.

In Mindelo, the presidents of Cape Verde and Angola will visit “points of economic interest”, such as Frescomar and the Desalinated Water Production Station, after João Lourenço also received the “Keys to the city of Mindelo”

On the same island, a visit to the Universidade Técnica do Atlântico is also planned, as well as a solemn ceremony at the Palácio do Povo.

João Lourenço’s visit, in return for the State visit that José Maria Neves made to Angola, last January, “has contributed to the consolidation of friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries and gives the bilateral relationship a dimension consistent with the long common history, the intense cultural harmony and the excellent political understanding that has always prevailed between Angola and Cape Verde”, says the Presidency of the Republic.
