Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, admitted on Thursday, that in recent years the military institution has achieved “considerable improvements”, but stressed the need to strengthen the budget in order to keep up with the challenges of the country.
Anildo Morais spoke to the press after being received by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, who informed about the operation, the current state and the challenges of the military institution.
The Chief of Staff said that in the five years he was at the head of the Armed Forces, they “achieved many gains” and “considerable improvements” not only in terms of quality of life in the barracks, but also the implementation of the new Statute, which brought “a new dynamic” in the management of human resources, especially at the wage level.
“But we still need much more for the operation, it is necessary a considerable improvement in the budget for the Armed Forces, there has to be a follow-up so that the institution is able to develop its activities and missions enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic itself,” said Anildo Morais, who stressed the need for this reinforcement so that the troops can meet the challenges of the country itself.
